Break Me Down by Samantha Conley

One man will Break Me Down, another man will build me back up.

After my father died, I lost myself and placed my trust in the wrong man. One bad decision and I almost paid the ultimate price. I found the courage to get away but the effects are like ripples in a lake. I’ve returned home but I’m not the same woman who left. I’m broken, shattered into pieces. One man thinks he can put the pieces back together again. Can I find the courage to let him?

I’m living the good life, my dream. I have everything I could possibly want – friends, family, fame and money. My only regret is the one thing I want slipped through my hands. Until she returned home. But she’s not the same free spirited, confident woman who I knew. She’s almost unrecognizable. When I find out the reason she has returned? My protective instincts rear their head. I know we’re supposed to be together. She thinks she broken. I think she’s stronger than she knows. Can I convince her to give us a chance?

Will the pain from the past prevent love in the future? Or can the broken pieces be put back together?

My Review:

This is the second book in the Silver Tongued Devils Series.  The first book was Down in Flames, which I’ve also reviewed.  I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Mallory has had a rough life since getting out of college, and is pretty beaten down by life.  Gone is the girl with the sunny outlook on life, the girl with the playful spirit.  Luckily she has some pretty amazing friends that stick by her through it all.

Jason is a guy that seems to have it all.  The Rock Star life, great friends, fantastic family.  But in the back of his mind, is the one that he didn’t get a chance with.  When she comes back around, she is not in the frame of mind to be able to handle what he wants.  It seems like its just not in the cards for them to be together.

Jason is such an amazing guy!  He knows what he wants, but is man enough to know that its not what she needs right then.  He is upstanding enough to be able to be there for her, while not taking it too far.  He continuously puts her needs ahead of his own.

Mallory is a beautiful woman, that has just come out of a very bad situation.  Her self confidence is at an all time low, and she is trying to pull herself out of a tailspin.

The author takes something as horrible as domestic abuse, and makes it into a positive, supportive situation.  She takes the story of someone who has been in the worst type of situation, and shows her what a real man is supposed to be like.  Throughout the story, every time I thought I knew what was going to happen next, something completely different happened!  She kept me guessing right up until the very end!  Amazing story!
