My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a quick read, but full of action. Bailey is a recently graduated college student, who is from a wealthy family. Right before moving back home, she is pulled into going to a party with her room mate, that takes a turn for the worse. She is assaulted, drugged, and kidnapped, along with her friend. When she escapes, and is found by an FBI agent, she is taken into protective custody while they try to keep her safe, and unravel the mystery of what happened and why.

Bailey is a feisty young woman! Even after all she went through, and through everything that happens throughout the story, she keeps a positive outlook. She takes a bad situation, and makes the most of it, finding love when least expected. Brock isn’t sure what to make of Bailey to begin with. Despite the immediate feelings he has for her, he tries his best to stay professional. She, too, tries to keep her distance, but things quickly heat up!

This is a fun filled, action packed novella! Even though it’s a relatively quick read, there are lots of details, descriptions, and a solid plot to keep you interested. (A little hint, some of these characters play a role in upcoming books, so pay attention!) All told, this is a great story, that I really liked!

Justice (Guardian #2)

Macey Gilbert has lived through a horrific crime and lost the love of her life in the process. When a new danger arises and threatens the small thread of sanity she’s clinging to, she’s forced to trust in the one person she thought she’d lost forever.

Dallas Stone watched as the woman he loves pushed him away years ago, but in a stolen moment, she shows him hope and he makes a snap decision that will change their lives forever.

Will Macey open up enough to let Dallas back in?

Will Dallas be able to protect her from an enemy neither of them saw coming?
Justice (Guardians Book 2)Justice by Piper Davenport

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

We met both Macey and Dallas in the previous book, Witness. We knew there was some type of previous relationship between them, but not what the details of that relationship was, or what happened to that relationship. This is their story.

Macey is a nurse at a local hospital. She grew up with Dallas, Payton, and Brock. Macey and Dallas danced around each other for years before admitting their feelings for one another. Then the unthinkable happens, and Macey pushes everyone away, including Dallas. Dallas moves on with his life, and career, never forgetting about Macey, and all that she means to him. Dallas finally pushes his way back into her life, and then things start getting strange, Macey’s past comes back to haunt her.

This book continued with what we were introduced to in Witness. Many of the same characters are in this book, and there are references to some events that occur in that book. However, this story could be read as a stand alone with no problems at all. There was a lot of action in this book, bad guys, and tense situations. It moved along at a brisk pace, and kept me guessing all along. It also introduced us to a few characters from an upcoming series, and ties in nicely with those! This book was exciting, and fun, and I loved the interactions between Macey and Dallas! Their relationship is both loving and HOT! As with all of the books that I’ve read by this author, I enjoyed everything about it, and it’s definitely worth reading!
