My Review:

Allure (Brooklet Dreams #1)Allure by C.A. Harms

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I’ve read books by this author before, and loved each one. However, I’ve not read the Southern Boys Series, which this book is a spin off from. After reading Allure, I think that is something I’m going to have to go back and correct! Not that you would have to have read them to be able to enjoy this book, because this book works well as a stand alone. But there are enough hints in this story, that I’m intrigued enough about the older generation, that I want to read their stories too!

Rhett is a typical southern boy. Loves his family, the outdoors, and baseball. He also loves Harley. But when she moves away while they are still in high school, she leaves a gaping hole in his life. As hard as he tries to make it work long distance, they just don’t make it. Years go by, and he still hasn’t moved forward. Throughout, he has the love and support of his family. Then one day, he opens his eyes to something that had been right in front of him. AJ.

AJ is a sweet, loving southern girl. She knows what she wants, but isn’t sure that she will ever get it. But she keeps holding out, hoping that one day, he will see what is right there, waiting for him.

Rhett and AJ are just amazing together. There are so many things that could go wrong, so many things that could stand in the way of their happiness. Not the least of which is his past. This story shows how good love can be, and how bad it can make you feel, if you let it. It also shows that love changes, and evolves, and can become something totally different than what it started out as. This book a sweet love story about second chances at life, and how just because life doesn’t work out how you think it should, doesn’t mean that it can’t turn out to be even better than you expected!
