Xander: Part 2, The Present (Rockstar #14) by Anne Mercier

unnamed (3)

It’s ten years later, and we’re still living separate lives. While I know she isn’t comfortable with my lifestyle after everything she’s been through, I can’t be without her anymore.

I need her.

She’s my wife.
She’s my heartbeat.
She’s my every breath.
She’s my everything.

I want to know every detail of her life. I want to be part of it all. I want to work as hard to get there as she did to get here.

She’s always been my girl—even at the age of eight. As I face her now, there’s no doubt she’ll be mine until I draw my last breath.

It’s time for our forever to begin.

My Review:

Xander: Part 2, The Present (Rockstar #14)Xander: Part 2, The Present by Anne Mercier

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is part 2 of Xander and Tera’s story, (a duet, within a series!) It’s labeled “The Present”, while part 1 takes place in the past, and tells their back story. It definitely needs to be read first, and ends on a crazy cliff hanger! (OMG, I thought I was gonna loose my mind! The ending had me shouting at my e-reader, “no, that can’t be the end!”) It definitely left me eagerly anticipating Part 2!

Xander is a hilarious character, that right from the beginning you can’t help but fall in love with. He brings out a light-hearted feel to the entire series, that makes him a favorite for everyone. However, even in the first books in the series, there is always an air to mystery to him, like you know there is more to him, something that he isn’t sharing with everyone. We find out what it was in Part 1, and it really shredded my heart. The horrendously tragic events that struck Xander and Tera left me with tears in my eyes. Book 2 goes into more details about the events that kept them apart, after the tragic event. As much as we all love Xander, be prepared to want to throttle him! (I totally wanted to shake him and ask, what the heck were you thinking?!?)

Tera is a woman who totally fits Xander, but events prevent her from being who she could be, who she wants to be. She is an artist, and there is a long history between the two. Theirs could have been a sweet story of a childhood friendship that blossomed into a great romance, had things been different. She is so strong, and works so hard to regain what she lost. It is really inspiring, and makes you think about what it would be to live the way she did. I can’t help but be glad she had such an amazing support system.

This book was eagerly anticipated, and definitely lived up to the expectations that I have of this author (this series is at the top of my go to for rereads in the rocker Genre) I was afraid that there was no way anyone could live up to those expectations, but she totally knocked it out of the park. If I could give it 10 stars I would!!!!! I’m so glad to see Xander and Tera happy. (It was also amazing to get to visit with the rest of the BFD crew!) I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next!
