Here it is! The book we’ve all been waiting for. This devious author (and I say that in only the best possible way!) put out a series of novellas, introducing us to Brian and Clarice, that were originally part of several Kindle worlds. She gave us just enough of an introduction that we would not be able to stop ourselves from thinking about them. How did they get to where they are? Where did they come up with their arrangement? What is stopping them from being together? Well, here is the book with all of those answers, plus some you never thought to ask!
Brian is a very complex character. On one side, he is a dominant mercenary, with a distinguished military career, and on the other, he is willing to submit to Clarice?!? Seems to be a contradiction, impossible, and yet the author makes it seem very plausible. Clarice is a very complicated woman. She is funny, take charge, worldly, but also vulnerable. She is the perfect foil to Brian, exactly what he needs. After 11 years of their arrangement, things seem to be changing.
I loved this book, from beginning to end. There was absolutely no part that was bad. Even though there were multiple flashbacks, detailing their past together, I had no trouble following along (let me tell you, that is not always the case! A lot of authors can’t do that without losing the reader along the way!) All of my questions that were brought up in the novellas were answered, and there was plenty of action to keep the book moving! This book does involve BDSM, but is less about that and more about the interactions between Brian and Clarice, the progress and changes in their relationship over the years. I loved their story, beginning with the novellas, and ending with this book. (You do not have to read the novellas to be able to read this story. However, reading the novellas first gives a clearer picture of the overall relationship between Brian and Clarice) This was a definite have to read for me, and the entire series will go on my re-read list!
KD Robichaux wanted to be a romance author since the first time she picked up her mom’s Sandra Brown books at the ripe old age of twelve. She went to college to become a writer, but then married and had babies. Putting her dream job on hold to raise her family as a stay at home mom, who read entirely too much, she created a blog where she could keep her family and friends up-to-date on all the hottest reads. From there, by word of mouth, her blog took off and she began using her hard-earned degree as a Senior Editor for Hot Tree Editing. When her kids started school, and with the encouragement from her many author friends, she finally sat down and started working on her first series, The Blogger Diaries, her very own real life romance.
