Opal…doesn’t want to remember.

After years of applying for a botany fellowship, I’ve finally got an interview. The only downside is it’s in the one place I can’t go, New York, where my family died, and my memories were stolen. Going back would be a nightmare.
I can’t remember anything from before waking up in the hospital, and I don’t want to.
My brain is messed up, and here comes this devastatingly sexy guy, Santiago, who tells me we used to be in love, that I was his everything, and that he’s gonna do all he can to help me get my memories back. All he wants is my happiness, but what the hell do I want? Is it Santiago, or is it the idea of a love I never knew?
Santiago…won’t ever forget.
I needed a vacation, badly. I’m on the outs with my family, and I’m struggling with my music. California sounds like a great way to ignore my problems. That is until I see her.
Opal will always be the girl who got away. Actually, she’s the girl I fell in love with the summer after college then disappeared without a word. No calls. No texts. Nothing. I thought I was over her but being near her only brings up all the old feelings.
She was always the one for me, now I’ve gotta convince her I’ve always been the one for her. Even if she refuses to remember.

Stark Memory (Stupid Awesome Love, #3)Stark Memory by Ceri Grenelle

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first book I’ve read by this author, and while it’s the third in a series, I had no problem following along. This is an emotional book, about a couple’s second chance, after being torn apart by a tragedy. Be prepared for some heart wrenching, a few tears, and even a few laughs.

Santi and Opal meet one beautiful summer, in New York. It seems to be the perfect, magical summer, after high school, but before college and adulthood really begin. Their connection is instant and pure, and they make plans to stay together, even while they are on different coasts. Then, one day, Opal is just…..gone. Santi never really recovers, never gets over her, never moves on. A chance meeting, many years later, gives him the rest of her story, and begins a healing journey for both of them.

This book was interesting, and had me feeling all kinds of ways. I enjoyed the banter between Santi and Opal. They had a really nice connection, both times they met, but not in an overly sappy way. Opal was very sassy, and didn’t hesitate to stand up for herself. All in all, it was a nicely written story with fun characters, definitely worth reading!

Ceri is the author of quirky and sexy contemporary romance novels. She has a major weakness for sappy cuddle moments as much as hot and steamy sex scenes, and a penchant for writing snappy and sarcastic dialogue. She loves romance that isn’t afraid to be awkward and uncouth, and thrives on flawed characters with big hearts.
Ceri is a New York native living in California with her two cats, Mercy and Eugene Fitzherbert, who should be very thankful she didn’t name him frying pan. She is a proud functioning introvert and lover of all things geeky. You can find her haunting the Twitter machine or posting pictures of her ridiculous cats on Instagram.
