Keeping the Biker’s Oath (Dogs of Fire: Savannah Chapter Book 5) by Piper Davenport
Three years ago, Olivia and I endured an unimaginable tragedy and she tried to force me out of her life.
I have done all I know to show her she’s everything to me, but with a civil war brewing with a rival club, I’m distracted and she’s spiraling.
I am a shell of who I once was, unable to find my purpose, and I have an irritating man who won’t let me hide from the world.
When the unthinkable happens, I am forced to face my demons, and I have to make a choice between walking into the light or crawling back into the dark.
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This book was an emotional roller coaster from beginning to end! Be prepared for big, ugly tears, and keep the tissues handy! They will definitely be needed! But there was also lots of laughs, plenty of drama, alpha males, and women strong enough to stand up to them!
I’ve wondered about Doc and Olivia for a while now. They just seemed to have such a strange relationship. I’m not sure if it struck me as toxic, or just a love-hate thing. But they definitely seemed to be the odd couple, in previous books. This book starts off explaining why they are how they are, and this is where those deep, roller coaster emotions come in at. There isn’t much about them before they became a couple, but it delves into the early, and tragic, part of their relationship (just be prepared, it’s a doozy!) Doc is so strong, and knows Olivia so well, often better than she knows herself. He is steadfast and loyal, even when most would have given up. Olivia, on the other hand, strikes me as being very fragile, emotionally, while still being a very strong person. (I know that’s quite an oxymoron, but it’s true!)
This book left me with goose bumps. I was curious before I began, and it didn’t take long for me to be emotionally invested in Doc and Olivia. Their journey was one of true love, and really gives new meaning to standing by that special person, even when they aren’t so sure. There’s a beautiful, soul deep connection between Doc and Olivia, and I can’t say how much I enjoyed being part of that journey!
