Hale’s Song: A Single Dad Contemporary Novel by Darlene Tallman

Blurb:

Adelaide Overstreet, newly single, finds herself back where she grew up at her grandparents’ cottage by the lake. Determined to seize the opportunity to use her degree, she embarks on a venture with her oldest friend to rebuild the town’s failing diner.
She’s done with love, done with relationships, done with anything to do with a man.

Until a nine-year old little boy with chocolate brown hair and freckles waltzes into her house one day and asks her what she’s doing. Jensen Johnson doesn’t know it, but his simple action has Addy rethinking her life.

Hale Johnson is a single dad committed to raising his son the right way, not the way he was brought up, with belts and smacks, harsh words and condescending attitudes. With his ex long gone, he has shoved any thoughts of a relationship so far down, it would take a crane to pull it out.

Until a sassy, spirited pastry chef steps into his life. Captivated, he finds himself drawn to her, but he’s unwilling to put himself out there again.

Come meet the folks in Barge Falls, Mississippi, where the air is hot and humid and the tea is always sweet down at Marvie’s Diner!

My Review:

Hale's Song: A Single Dad Contemporary NovelHale’s Song: A Single Dad Contemporary Novel by Darlene Tallman

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This author always takes my emotions for a roller coaster ride! It never fails! Her books are full of tears, laughter, and real life scenarios that hit close to home! Hale’s Song is one of those books that I anticipate, look forward to, can’t wait to get my hands on. And then, when I begin, that feeling of excitement follows through to the very last page. Every heart-pounding minute of this book was well worth the wait.

Addy thinks her life is set. Even though she has had her share of heart ache, she thinks she has it all figured out. Until life throws her for a loop, and she has to start all over again. When she decides to go home, to where it all began, she isn’t prepared for what she finds, or the path she is thrown on.

Hale’s life has been full of surprises, but those surprises are what makes life worth living. Every day is something new. And then his biggest surprise of all rolls into town! It doesn’t take long before he knows what he wants, and will do whatever he has to, to get it!

This book was full of surprises, some good, and some sad. I loved the connections between the characters, and how they made each other’s lives better. I loved the heat, but also how it wasn’t all about the heat, how those family connections were more important. And there is a surprise at the end that totally blew me out of the water! Anticipation!!!!! I’m looking forward to seeing what the author comes up with next! It promises to be amazing!
