Duke by Jack Davenport

Home from a war my country hated me for, I’m looking for my place in the world, managing to find myself in jail instead. But when a vision of perfection walks up the jailhouse steps, I’m lost. Now I just have to convince her to get lost with me.

My Review:

DukeDuke by Jack Davenport

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a short introduction to the Duke, and Pearl, and the beginnings of the Burning Saints MC! Anyone who has read (and loved!) the Burning Saints series will absolutely love this novella! There are glimpses of some of the other members, hints of a bigger story, and just enough to draw you in, and get you hooked (especially if you haven’t already read the other books!)

Duke is home from war, after serving his time in the Army. He has come home to find that his efforts, along with the rest of the soldiers, aren’t appreciated at all. They are either ridiculed, or ignored. He’s a little down about the whole situation, and does’t seem to know where he wants his life to go from here. He’s sort of just drifting, riding his bike. Until a chance encounter, with the Burning Saints, and a beauty from his past, changes everything!

I couldn’t help but love Duke! He isn’t what he at first appeared to be, and I found him very endearing. I loved his decisiveness, and how sure he was of his path, and Pearl. Their story, while short, was absolutely perfect! And a wonderful way of diving into the world of the Burning Saints!
