I’ve followed this author from the beginning, and have loved all of her writing so far. I adored her Hockey series, so when I found out she was beginning a baseball series, I was so excited! I love baseball, and stories about players finding their HEA! And then I read the blurb of the book. What happens after the HEA with all of these pro athletes. What happens if love just isn’t enough? What happens if things aren’t as perfect as it’s made to be in all of these romance novels we read? That is what this book is about! And I couldn’t have loved this story more, especially for it’s imperfectness!
Derek screwed up. Big time. And he knows it. He let the fame, and the life style go to his head, and he lost the best thing that ever happened to him. His family. But now he has his head screwed on straight, and he is determined to do whatever it takes to get them back. And he knows it won’t be easy, but it will be worth it.
Jillian loves Derek. But she doesn’t like who he has become. She deserves more, deserves everything, and she won’t take less than being first anymore. It’s not an easy decision, and it’s a risky one, but it’s necessary. Can she trust that he really has changed? Or will he hurt her again?
This book was amazing. There really is no other word for it. The story line was perfect, even if it’s characters weren’t. It’s a wonderful pick me up, about a young family, a young couple, finding their way back to each other, giving second chances, and finding balance between family and a career. (And on a side note, there are hints at the next book, and I can’t wait! It’s going to be explosive! And amazing!)
