𝑨𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒐𝒐𝒌:
After Eden Monroe’s ex dumps her, she decides not to cancel the romantic getaway they booked, wanting to waste his money like he wasted two years of her life. She never expects to go, but when he gets engaged to someone else, she packs her bags and boards the plane in need of an escape.
Except she’s not the only one.
Becker Donovan needs to lie low for a while. The farther away from his life, the better. So, after catching wind of an abandoned week at a luxury resort in paradise, he decides to claim it as his own. All he has to do is convince everyone he’s a rich douche for a few days. Easy enough.
Until the princess from the airport shows up to find out he conned his way into her hotel suite.
He should leave, but then Eden’s brother offers him a reason to stay.
Five days. Ten thousand dollars. All Beck has to do is keep the guys away from Eden.
Only when she needs him to play boyfriend, the guy who ends up with his hands all over her is him. It’s all pretend between them until it’s not. They fall hard and fast—completely.
But the problem with finding each other when taking a break from the real world is they eventually have to return to it. And once reality crashes back in, Eden and Beck realize they don’t exactly live in the same one. Not even close.
𝑬𝒏𝒋𝒐𝒚 𝒂 𝒔𝒏𝒆𝒂𝒌 𝒑𝒆𝒆𝒌…
“If I weren’t here, would you have broken out the sex basket the hotel left the first night?” Beck finishes pouring the tequila and looks up to add, “No one else is here either. Just Eden Monroe and a whole lot of ways to get off.”
I narrow my eyes at him. “You take some long showers. Maybe I already have.”
“You haven’t—but that wasn’t my question. Would you truly be enjoying your vacation solo?”
It only takes about half a second for me to reach for the shot, but Beck wraps his fingers around the glass, shaking his head.
“This would be your third in a row.” He slides it back to his side of the table. “I think you should answer.”
“Pick a different question then.”
“And you’ll answer?” he asks. “No matter what it is?”
I hesitate before I nod, and his mouth perks up on one side, making me instantly regret it.
Beck barely even thinks about it, leaning back in his chair. “How often do you actually have to fake getting off with a guy?”
“What?” I laugh out.
I think he might be fucking with me, waiting for me to turn red and go hide in the bathroom, but he holds my gaze, and my pulse spikes. Looking away for a second, I lick my lips.
“Simple question, Eden. How experienced are you really when it comes to faking it?”
I glare at him, but he’s unfazed, as always, so I blow out a slow breath. Beck’s grip tightens on the shot when I lean forward for it, but he lets go and tips his head to the side as he watches me take it.
After I swallow, I wipe my mouth with the back of my hand. “Very experienced.”
I send the glass skating across the table, and Beck catches it without taking his eyes off mine. Then his gaze drifts lower. Past my neck. Breaking the rule I set for him earlier in the game, he brings his shot to his lips while he scans what feels like every inch of me. He looks up again, and the air buzzes, the humid breeze blowing through the door where he slid it open.
“Pity,” he says before taking the shot.
